MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW CRITICIZED ME FOR WEARING A SWIMSUIT AT HER POOL PARTY AT 82 — AM I REALLY IN THE WRONG?
I’m 82 years old, and I still enjoy life to the fullest, including taking a dip in the pool now and then. Recently, I attended my daughter-in-law’s pool party, and I wore my favorite swimsuit. But instead of enjoying the day, I was met with criticism. She pulled me aside and said, “At your age, isn’t it a bit inappropriate to be wearing a swimsuit at a pool party? You should cover up more.”
Her words stung. I’ve always believed that age shouldn’t limit how we live our lives or what we wear. I was just trying to have fun with my family and friends, but now I’m left questioning if I made a mistake.
Am I really wrong for wanting to swim and enjoy myself at 82? Should I have dressed differently? Has anyone else faced this kind of criticism? How did you handle it?
